Tuesdays with TJae: THINK before . . .
THINK before . . . Let's all THINK before we speak or act, or for that matter, before we think. . . seeing as how thoughts become words and words become deeds.
There are a few other acrostics using the word THINK, but this is one of my favorites and I wanted to share it with you. Thanks to the #WineDownHTX crew, I looked it up.
Is it True? Honey, lemme tell you, COVID19 has brought out the untruest of the untrue. Even if you are just repeating what you read, or heard - my daddy would say "If you said it, you said it."
Is it Helpful? Not do we THINK it's helpful. Is it actually helpful? Is what I'm sharing going to do the receiver(s) some good?
Is it Inspiring? There's another expression which comes to mind here. If you cannot help, at least don't cause any harm. Our goal should always be to leave a person, place or thing better than we found them.
Is it Necessary? This is another one that trips us up. Lemme speak for me. It trips me up. A further question to ask related to this one is - what necessitates it?
Is it Kind? I don't know about y'all, but my grandmother used to say, 'if you can't say something nice, don't say anything." It's better to be silent than be mean.
We're all experiencing what Brené Brown would call an FFT, ('effin first time) or a TFT (terrible first time) (for tender ears). It's more important than maybe it was a month ago, for us to pack additional grace & to THINK before we - whatever.
One more thing . . . YWCA Houston is still providing daily meals to homebound seniors. They have nn immediate need for 30 reusable masks for their drivers. If you can help, please contact Tiphany Burrell.
