Tuesdays with TJae: I Need Your Help
I need your help. Does that sentence make you nervous? Does it make you more nervous to say it, or to hear it? I imagine you landed on one side of the fence or the other.
Last week I attended ReelAbilities: The UP Experience and had the opportunity to hear from Rebecca Alexander. Rebecca lives with Usher Syndrome and her website describes her as a "warrior of strength and courage." You can follow the link and learn more about her.
She said this about asking for help. "Asking for help is the most basic human connection." She went on to say, "Asking someone for help lets them know they matter; that they're needed."
The video below (yes, the one that looks like a still photo) will tell you where I fall on the question. Also, here's the link just in case . . .
If you're willing to help . . . I have a simple ask.
Please copy and paste (or paraphrase and share) the following statement with at least one woman this week.
100 Voices Women's Dinner Dialogue on Race & Culture is a first-of-its-kind event happening in Houston, TX on February 29th. Women of all backgrounds are encouraged to bring their voices to the table. A few spaces are available, but selling fast. Register at https://100voices022920.eventbrite.com
Can I help if I'm male? Yes, please.
Can I help if I don't live in Houston? Yes, please.
Can I help if I'm unable to attend? Yes, please.
I trust that when you share, the perfect someone(s) will read it and respond.
Other ways to help if you're feeling extra 'specially motivated: become a table sponsor (4 spots remain), make a donation or sponsor someone else's ticket.
One more thing . . . Well, two more things. The labyrinth walk is still a thing and I'll be out there Thursday unless it's raining. And also, my new website made a quiet debut on February 14th. You can check it out here.
