Tuesdays with TJae - Trust Your Knowing

I get to trust my knowing.  One of my favorite things to offer during bubble meditation is space to remind my guests who they are. We do this through repeating seven affirmations. Number five is I get to trust my knowing.

Go ahead and repeat that one aloud for yourself.

You already know what you know. Don't you know that?

Before yesterday, we might not have known that a broom would stand unsupported in the middle of the floor, but we certainly know many other things without question. Oprah is famous, among many other reasons, for the phrase "What I know for sure."

Rather than trust our individual knowing, however strong it is, we often rely on the collective knowing of our community or we defer to someone who we believe knows more than we do - even in instances where we are the authority. Pardon my Phrench. . . . Phuck that!

I was talking with a friend yesterday about his new job. He has a new job in an industry he's worked in for 20 years. Nothing about this new job is lining up with industry standards or with his personal experience of what to expect from this type of job. And yet - there he is - offering these folks the benefit of the doubt and spiraling into a pattern of complaining about things over which he has NO CONTROL. He already has all the information he needs to make a better decision - there in his knowing.

In case you're concerned that I'm throwing him under a bus - I already said all of this directly to him.

I suggest, for your consideration, that no one knows more about you or your life than you do. And further, that your knowing will lead you to exactly the right place. And further still, that you  can and should trust your knowing.

Just a thought.

One more thing . . .  We have reached 50% capacity for 100 Voices Women's Dinner Dialogue on Race & Culture. We hope to sell out and close registrations by February 22nd. If you're planning to attend, please hop over to Eventbrite and snag your seat. There's also an opportunity to be one of four remaining table sponsors and/or purchase a seat as a gift.
